When you invest in high-quality bedding made from natural materials, you expect it to bring comfort for more than just one season. However, even the finest satin or linen can lose its charm with just one wrong wash cycle.
At Tekstura, we believe that home care should be simple and enjoyable. That’s why we’ve gathered 5 golden rules to help keep your textiles in perfect condition.
1. Watch the Temperature — Max 40°C
There is a common myth that bedding needs to be "boiled" to kill bacteria. For modern natural fabrics, this is actually harmful. Hot water breaks down the fibers of cotton and linen, leading to faster wear and fading colors. For hygienic cleanliness, 30-40°C (86-104°F) combined with a quality detergent is more than enough.
2. Liquid Gel over Powder
Standard washing powders often contain abrasive particles that can get stuck between fibers, making the fabric feel stiff and rough over time. We recommend using liquid gels — they rinse out much better and are gentler on the fabric's structure.
3. Turn It Inside Out
Before throwing your duvet covers and pillowcases into the drum, turn them inside out and zip up all buttons or zippers. This protects the outer side from friction and pilling, and keeps your hardware safe from damage during the spin cycle.
4. Say "No" to Overdrying
If you use a tumble dryer, always choose a delicate setting. However, the best option for natural fabrics is air drying. The key trick is to take the bedding down while it is still slightly damp. Overdried fabric becomes brittle and is incredibly difficult to iron.
5. Embrace the Natural Texture
Linen and Washed Cotton have their own unique aesthetic — a slight wrinkle adds charm and a cozy, "lived-in" feel. Don't stress about ironing them to perfection. This is one of those rare cases where effortless imperfection looks stylish and modern.
By following these simple tips, you will be able to enjoy the softness and beauty of your Tekstura sets for years to come. Choose the best for your sleep!
